FRED
FRIENDSHIP
Fred
Friendship appeared in a late
sketch in the incredibly manic
and hilarious 1998 SNL season
premiere.
It started out innocent enough as
a kid's show called Jingleheimer
Junction that stressed friendship
and togetherness and was hosted
by Jingleheimer Joe (Tim
Meadows.)
Joe welcomed the pals at the
Junction (Umberto Unity, Carla
Caring and Katy Kindness) while
the audience noticed that each
pal has the first letter of their
name printed big on their shirt.
They lined up so their shirts
said "U-C-K" and made the excited
announcement that they had a new
friend. Joe obviously had no idea
of a new addition as the pals
welcomed Fred Friendship (our
boy, Will.)
The rest of the sketch consisted
of the pals trying to get Fred to
stand in the front of their ranks
and Joe trying to tackle Fred to
keep them all from spelling out
the obvious profanity.
This was the kind of sketch that
makes people who fell asleep
early kick themselves Sunday
morning.
